BAPTISM

The Baptismal Covenant is God’s word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace, and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love no matter what the age.  Baptism signifies the washing away of sin by God and God’s choosing us to be his children through repentance and profession of faith.  If a personal Christian commitment or profession has taken place, baptism celebrates that act and the grace of God that has made it possible.  If it is prior to a profession of faith (such as in infants and children), baptism anticipates that act, declares its necessity, and celebrates God’s grace that will make it possible.

Evangel welcomes your inquiry about the Sacrament of Baptism and/or making a Profession of Faith in Jesus Christ, and we look forward to assisting your family with planning this special day.  Please contact the church office at office@evangelumc.org or 364-3834 to begin.

Persons of all ages can be baptized at Evangel.  The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms from other faiths and churches and therefore does not "re-baptize."
